Tissue Paper Flower Craft

This was one of the first crafts I remember making in elementary school. It stuck in my mind so much, that once when faced with a completely unexpected waiting group of art camp students and grandparents, I pulled this one out of thin air (and the supplies closet). Needless to say, I have strong memories with this one.

This craft is a great way to celebrate spring while incorporating some science terms! I think it is best for 1st - 3rd grade, but younger ones could do it as well with some assistance and adaptation.

Educational Applications

Students learn how to create a 3D tissue paper flower with multiple variations while optionally learning flower science terms.

Fine motor skills will be practiced as they fold, draw, use scissors, and glue for the 3D element. If incorporating the science portion, they'll also need to curl the pipe cleaners and thread pony beads.

Easy Video Instruction

If you want to try this with your children or students, I have an easy to follow step-by-step video that guides them through the process. This frees you up to manage materials or supervise while you simply let instruction and learning happen!
